PRACTICE MANAGEMENT: HOW TO APPROACH AND HELP CLIENTS AND REFERRAL SOURCES WITH TAX REFORM
The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 is providing lawyers, CPAs, trust officers and financial planners with the most important opportunity to assist clients since the Tax Reform Act of 1986. We all know this intuitively, so the real question becomes “what do I do” and “how to I jump start” the process? For CPAs, trust officers and financial planners, the process involves mastering the technical aspects of the TCJA. For lawyers, the challenge is a massive paradigm shift away from estate tax planning to mastering additional income tax and asset protection strategies. This fast-paced class will help you identify and begin to master the key technical issues and develop the foundation of a business plan to “jump start” the process.
In this 90 minute class, Bob will focus on tax planning and practice management, and a 30 minute prequel will provide a rapid fire review of the foundational aspects of the TCJA. In the first 30 minutes, Bob will provide a summary of how to approach your clients and key referral sources with specific strategies Including:
- A Review of our TCJA Checklist
- Estate Planning Letter Inviting Clients to Meet with You
- Income Tax Planning Letter
- Financial and Tax Planning Letter
- Client Checklist(s) for Lawyers, CPAs and Planners
- Customized Client PowerPoints for Section 199A, Estate Planning and Income Tax Planning
- Best Ideas for Estate Planning Lawyers to Market
- Best ideas for CPAs to Market
- Best ideas for Financial Planners to Market
- Which Ideas will Drive Existing Client Business
- Which Strategies will Drive Referrals From Other Professionals
For the next 60 minutes, Bob will review the top TCJA planning strategies that you can market and implement in 2018, including:
- Portability with a $11,180,000 Exemption
- GST Planning with the Larger Exemption
